Welcome to the Maplewood Memorial Library Teen Summer Reading Program!
Summer is a chance to read what you want to read, when you want to read it. Fiction? Sure! Non-fiction? Super! Graphic novels, comic books, newspapers, magazines, blogs, ebooks, audiobooks, podcasts: nothing is off limits. Basically, we just want you to encounter words every day of your summer in some format. The more you encounter, the better off you’ll be in the next school year.
The more you read, the better your chances to win cool prizes, too. So how do you win?
- Register for the summer reading club starting Monday, June 18.
- Any time you spend reading a book, listening to a podcast, reading a comic book, etc, submit your time in a Prize Entry. The more you read, the greater your chances of winning a prize! We suggest you submit after each time you sit down and read so you don’t forget to enter your time. You can enter as many entries as you need and as often as you need. Want an additional 15-minute entry? Submit a 2 or more sentence review and we’ll add time to your reading for a better chance of rising to the top!
- Keep reading and submitting until Thursday, August 16. On Friday, August 17, our 4 top readers will be announced to collect their choice of one of four prize packs. If you win, you will be notified by email or Remind text message if you submitted your phone number upon registration.
Having trouble picking out something good to read? Check out some suggested summer reads from the teachers and school and public librarians of South Orange and Maplewood on our SOMSD Suggested Summer Reading Lists
Want to extend your summer fun at the library? Middle and High School students may register for one of our Create Camp programs, and High School students may register for our Village 2 Village program. More information on programs can be found on our Events page.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your Teen Librarian, Emily Witkowski, at email@example.com. Happy reading!
